I'm going to a special exhibition tomorrow, the companies on our campus were invited for a special tour (for those who are interested Smiley )thru the New National Gallery and its special exhibition of a private collection. Berliner art collectors Pietzsch collected a lot of paintings over the years (paintings by Max Ernst, S. Dali and the like), and these paintings are now shown in the Gallery. We get a special tour by the director, a museum for us alone (usualy the gallery is closed on Mondays). woohoo. Smiley

you can see here some examples:

Although this isn't MY ART in particular (I love the impressionists), I am very curious. Smiley

Cool. This type of art is not my cup of tea either but I envy the fact that you got to get "star" treatment. How did it go?

It was an event with style, I must say. A glas of champagne and some sandwiches for the start, then we got a 1,5 hour guided tour thru the exhibition (I didn't know this private collection contains such a lot of paintings), and the collectors joined us for the tour, that was very interesting in particular, because they know/knew most of the artists they collect in person. Both elderly people in their mid 70ies, they had a wonderful humor and it was a pleasure to talk to them.
After the tour, we were spoiled with the entire menu of a famous restaurant here in Berlin called "Borchardt", they served "amuse geule" servings. I like that because this way, you can try a lot of different meals. The waiters brought us tiny plates (btw they served in white gloves Smiley Smiley ). So it was a very special evening, to my total surprise. The best of all was the dessert: STRAWBERRY CAKE!!!!! Smiley

Of course they hope to get us/our companies as a new sponsor. I will do my best to convince my boss but I doubt he would do that. This si DEFINITELY not his type of art either. Smiley

Anyways. My friend and I had a nice evening. Smiley
